ADA Compliance Policy

ADA Compliance Policy

Introduction

The purpose of this document is to explain our enrolled Volunteer Participants' responsibility to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Metro Vanpools are open to everyone and the Metro Vanpool Program strictly prohibits discrimination in all its forms. Our enrolled Volunteer Participants agree to cooperate and act to ensure that no person shall be denied the opportunity to participate in, nor be subject to discrimination in the conduct of the vanpool because disability. Our vehicle suppliers will provide vehicles that are compliant with the ADA upon request of a Volunteer Participant or a passenger.

Metro's ADA Compliance Requirements

In an effort to ensure that Metro Vanpool Program enrolled vanpools are open to all, enrolled Volunteer Participants shall comply with the following:

  • Respond to any request to join their vanpool from a person requesting ADA modifications in the same amount of time that the Volunteer Participant would respond to a request from an able-bodied person. This would include a request to be added to a waitlist as maintained by the Volunteer Participant.
  • Consider any request to modify a route or schedule of their vanpool from a person requesting ADA modifications as the Volunteer Participant would consider a similar request from an able-bodied person.
  • Charge an identical fare for a person requesting ADA modifications as an able-bodied person.
  • Contact the vanpool's Vehicle Supplier to deliver an ADA compliant vehicle upon receipt of a request from a passenger.
